Artist Bio
Gianna embarked on her dance journey at DanceWorks Unlimited in Fresno, starting just before her second birthday. Transitioning to the Dance Studio of Fresno, she immersed herself in jazz, ballet, and contemporary dance forms. At the age of 10, Gianna began assistant teaching in her mother’s classes, later becoming a TA at the Dance Studio of Fresno.
Her passion for choreography blossomed at 15 when she was commissioned to choreograph for the Clovis West Choral Choir's Spring Show. This initial opportunity led to teaching and choreographing for musicals at Kastner Intermediate School and Clovis West High School. Notably, her choreography for "Shipoopi" from The Music Man secured Clovis West its only title for a large group ensemble number.
Continuing to cultivate her talents, Gianna earned a dance scholarship at Fresno State, where she also performed with the Contemporary Dance Ensemble for three years. Her tenure included being featured as a student choreographer and culminated in a prestigious performance at The Kennedy Center.
Gianna's choreographic prowess extends beyond traditional theater settings. She has crafted award-winning pieces for Yosemite Dance Company’s Elite team dancers, achieving 2nd place overall in competition. Her performance credits span commercials for Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, appearances with Hannah Milar and Windsong productions, and guest roles in Fresno City College’s productions.
Most recently, Gianna showcased her versatility as a guest artist in Break the Barriers' "A Nutcracker Like No Other" and as a lead and ensemble dancer for Fresno State’s Contemporary Dance Ensemble. Her commitment to ongoing dance education is evident in her involvement as a founding member of (Kin)esphere Dance Project under Elena Razai's direction, alongside her freelance work as a dancer and choreographer on various collaborative projects.
As the founder and director of Manzanita Dance Collective, Gianna channels her diverse experiences and deep-rooted passion for dance to create emotionally resonant, introspective, and innovative works that explore the profound connections between individuals and their artistry.
